Objectives

Session I Objectives

  • Use various Internet sources of imagery (topographic maps and aerial and satellite images) to visualize a watershed
  • Determine land use and ownership in a watershed
  • Predict potential impacts of land use on water quality
  • Make recommendations for interventions that could be made to improve water quality

Session II Objectives

  • Safely access several portions of a stream for observation and measurement
  • Properly collect water samples
  • Use appropriate instrumentation and technique to measure water quality parameters
  • Make and record relevant observations related to land use and water quality
  • Predict potential impacts of land use on water quality

Session III Objectives

  • Evaluate the potential impacts of land use on water quality parameters
  • Compare predicted water quality impacts with measured impacts
  • Make recommendations for interventions that could be made to improve water quality.
