Recently NCSR published a short description of the reaction of Environmental Science students to their visit to an old growth forest. The visit was the final field experience in a three term course sequence taught by Wynn Cudmore, NCSR's Principal Investigator. To view this publication, click on Changing Student Lives.
Welcome
NCSR is a national clearinghouse for natural resource curriculum materials used by college faculty and high school science teachers. Materials cover major subject areas of environmental science and natural resources. They include fisheries, forestry, wildlife, and environmental science topics used in college programs.
All instructional materials are provided in a comprehensive classroom-ready format. The materials stress a science-based instruction approach to develop an accurate understanding of the principles of ecosystem-based resource management and sustainability and feature lecture-discussion, laboratory and field-based teaching and learning approaches. Materials are appropriate for science and technical courses.
Guides for developing community-based or place-based instruction for middle and secondary science courses are also available.
Professional development institutes covering environmental topics are provided for faculty and teachers.
All materials have been developed with the support of the National Science Foundation's (NSF) Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program and are available free-of-charge.
