Faculty Development Institutes
The Northwest Center for Sustainable Resources sponsors faculty development institutes which have been attended by educators from around the nation interested in natural resources and environmental science-based programs. These Institutes are funded through the National Science Foundation's Advanced Technological Education Program. Institutes are offered during the summer and information is provided below on future institutes.
Summer 2008 Faculty Institute: Land Use Impacts on Environmental Quality
All openings have been filled for NCSR's Summer Institute: Land Use Impacts on Environmental Quality planned for July 13 to 18, 2008. The Institute will be held at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon and will feature laboratory and field activities designed for adaptation to natural resource programs and ecosystem-based support courses. Topics will include the use of digital imagery to evaluate land use impacts, non-point source pollution in watersheds, impacts of land use change over time, the ecological role of fire, and an evaluation of forest regeneration.
